Assistant Softball Coach

Department 2836 - Athletics Administration Position Information Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Five or more years of coaching experience. Demonstrated knowledge of softball and experience coaching, playing, training ore developing softball athletes. Demonstrated ability to teach and develop student-athletes in the technical, tactical and physical aspect of softball. Experience working effectively with student-athletes in a competitive athletic environment. Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills. Perform all duties in accordance with NCAA , Conference and University rules, regulations, ordinances, polices, procedures and guidelines. Must possess a valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the University by the University's insurance carrier. Desired Qualifications Offensive/Hitting coaching experience. Demonstrated ability to recruit top Division I student-athletes. Experience in practice planning, evaluating student-athletes, and managing travel schedules/itineraries. Experience in fund raising efforts and events. All Qualifications Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered. Position Details Position Purpose The Oakland University Assistant Softball Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in developing a NCAA Division I softball program for student-athletes, within the rules and policies of The NCAA and Conference legislated guidelines. The assistant coach must also assist in the training and development of team/players on and off the field; liaison for academics and other departments on campus; Assist with travel arrangements and ordering of softball equipment.
