Position Overview

We are seeking a Full-Time RN for Acute Care in Orthopedic Surgery. The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role as part of a collaborative team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers, ensuring that patients, families, and significant others receive personalized, high-quality, and safe care. This role operates within a clinical environment overseen by Nurse Managers and supported by our Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by our Professional Practice Model, emphasizing evidence-based practices and research. RN competencies are aligned with these models and reflect our organizational values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the nursing practices defined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics established by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, you will advocate for the patient’s voice while adhering to system policies and procedures, all while striving for service excellence.

• Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
  • Utilizes the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver clinical care based on evidence-based practices, employing analytical and critical thinking to ensure individualized care and effective coordination.
  • Delivers relationship-based, patient-centered care that aligns with specific population characteristics (e.g., age, gender, health conditions), adapting service delivery to honor cultural diversity.
  • Engages with patients and significant others (when appropriate) through suitable methods for communication (e.g., bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, timely patient education), keeping them informed and focusing on their care goals.
  • Adheres to current clinical practice standards.
• Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that supports the professional care delivery model, including diverse interdisciplinary communication methods and timely documentation.
  • Exhibits teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner, promoting the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
  • Engages in performance improvement initiatives, involving all stakeholders, and supports research and its application to enhance patient care quality.
• Professional Development and Initiative
  • Completes all initial and ongoing competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
  • Acts as a preceptor and mentor for fellow nurses and other staff or students, ensuring a qualified future workforce and fostering a healthy work environment.
• Evidence-Based Practice and Research
  • Advocates for evidence-based practices, nursing research, and performance improvement, participating in value analysis for evaluating patient care products.
  • Complies with all organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including legal and accreditation standards, ensuring adherence to safety goals.
  • Engages in data collection and formulates relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice, consulting experts and utilizing appropriate resources.
• Resources and Support
  • Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum while providing direct care.
  • Contributes to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and healthcare team members to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Supports the efficient use of human and material resources.

Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Compliance with all organizational policies, work standards, and code of conduct is required.

Minimum Education Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• All certifications must be obtained upon hire unless stated otherwise.
• Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT (Multi-state Compact).
• BLS - Basic Life Support or equivalent certification.

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience is required.

• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English; adept at utilizing technology to enhance clinical care with basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with excellent customer service abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies with composure and respect.
• Exceptional time management skills and the ability to practice nursing based on evidence and analytical reasoning.
• Possesses strong critical thinking skills.
