Overview

This is a journeyman technician position responsible for performing high quality maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of makes and models, including but not limited to International Motors and IC Bus products. The technician's competencies and commitment to continuous improvement of technical knowledge and skills, combined with a strong commercial mindset, drive high levels of performance and customer satisfaction.

Consistently satisfied customers, on time delivery, and a safe work environment are achieved by following established processes, standards, and guidelines. The journeyman technician also serves as a positive influence in the shop by supporting improvements in both people and processes. This role directly contributes to customer satisfaction, dealership profitability, and the overall safety and reliability of vehicles on the road.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare for service by reviewing repair orders, gathering tools and information, and ensuring required parts are at the work bay for efficient repairs.
• Perform maintenance and repairs safely and accurately by following established procedures-inspecting vehicles, using diagnostics, securing parts, addressing issues, and handling materials properly.
• Complete repairs on time by preparing vehicles, sourcing parts and information, managing deviations, returning unused parts, cleaning the workspace, documenting work, and reporting additional issues.
• Wrap up service tasks by documenting work in the repair order, clocking out, completing handovers if needed, and preparing the next job.
• Mentor colleagues and apprentices by sharing expertise, offering hands-on training, and providing guidance to build skills and confidence.
• Promote safety and compliance by coaching on procedures, encouraging safe behavior, and ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained.
• Maintain product knowledge of International and IC Bus offerings to support repairs, align with business goals, and perform duties accurately.
• Apply technical expertise in troubleshooting, vehicle systems, tools, and documentation to perform service and repairs independently.
• Use software and digital tools to perform diagnostics, access repair information, manage work orders, and improve service efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with team members, customers, and leadership to promote understanding, collaboration, and positive outcomes.
