Description The Linden Cogeneration Plant is a 980 MW natural gas combined-cycle cogeneration facility located within a major refinery in Linden, NJ. In addition to generating electricity, the plant provides process steam to the refinery. The plant is equipped with five GE 7EA gas turbine generators and one GE 7FA gas turbine generator, each exhausting into a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG). The HRSGs are connected to a common steam header, which supplies steam to three steam turbines and the adjacent refinery. Opportunity Summary The Maintenance Manager leads the maintenance function at Linden Cogeneration Plant, a large combined-cycle cogeneration facility, ensuring plant equipment and systems are maintained safely, reliably, and efficiently. This position oversees maintenance personnel, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, planned and forced outages, maintenance projects, contractors, budgets, and CMMS activities. The Maintenance Manager drives equipment reliability, workforce development, and continuous improvement across gas turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, generators, and balance-of-plant systems while supporting reliable electricity generation and process steam delivery. Your scope of responsibility as Maintenance Manager will include the following primary functions: Lead the plant maintenance organization and coordinate maintenance supervisors, planning and materials personnel, and technical resources in the safe and efficient execution of maintenance and repair activities. Manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for gas turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, generators, and mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and balance-of-plant systems in accordance with plant procedures and vendor/OEM recommendations. Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of maintenance personnel while promoting employee engagement, accountability, teamwork, and effective resolution of personnel concerns. Promote a strong safety and environmental culture, ensuring maintenance activities comply with plant procedures, applicable permits and environmental requirements, and established practices for the safe handling of hazardous materials and wastes. Analyze equipment failures, maintenance history, and performance trends; lead or support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce unplanned downtime. Plan, oversee, and coordinate maintenance activities for planned and forced outages, including schedules, work packages, labor, contractors, equipment, and technical resources to support safe and timely execution. Develop and manage maintenance budgets, cost-control and cost-reduction initiatives, scopes of work, service contracts, purchase requirements, and schedules while maintaining effective cost and performance controls. Coordinate parts, tools, materials, inventory, and services to ensure critical resources are available for routine maintenance, projects, and outage activities. Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders, maintenance schedules, equipment history, failure records, and other information supporting effective work management and equipment reliability. Administer and support the plant’s Management of Change (MOC) process to ensure equipment, system, and procedural changes are properly evaluated, documented, approved, and implemented. Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Compliance, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities and support plant availability and process steam requirements. Maintain the plant Maintenance Manual, vendor maintenance and repair reports, technical documentation, equipment records, and other required information to support accurate recordkeeping and long-term maintenance planning. Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager. Working Relationships The Maintenance Manager reports to the Plant Manager, and supervises the Mechanical Supervisor, the EI&C Supervisor, the Planning & Materials Supervisor, and the DCS Engineer (if assigned). The Maintenance Manager cooperates with the Operations Manager and Administrative Manager as needed in the maintenance of the plant. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions. Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame‑resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high‑voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility. Fitness for Duty All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post‑offer physical examination, drug screening, and post‑employment random drug screening. Work Schedule The Maintenance Manager works a standard Monday to Friday day shift schedule. This position will require extended hours, flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to support plant operations and business needs and may also require callout availability. Depending on the position, on‑call status may or may not apply. Some travel may be involved to participate in Manager, Owner, User Group, or other offsite meetings. Compensation This position offers an annual base salary ranging from $195,000 to $210,000 and includes eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Maintenance Expertise and Leadership Competencies Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field is desired; relevant power generation or industrial experience may be considered in lieu of education. Extensive power plant maintenance and operations experience in a leadership, supervisory, or management capacity, including responsibility for personnel, maintenance programs, projects, work priorities, resources, and complex generating equipment. Strong technical knowledge of combined‑cycle and cogeneration equipment and systems, including gas turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, generators, process steam systems, and mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and balance‑of‑plant equipment. Proven experience developing and managing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and plant availability. Experience planning and coordinating maintenance projects and planned and forced outages, including personnel, contractors, schedules, materials, and other required resources. Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and reliability‑centered maintenance practices for work management, equipment history, and long‑term equipment reliability. Thorough understanding of power plant safety requirements, procedures, and industry standards, with a demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe, productive, and accountable work environment. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including equipment troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and development of sustainable corrective actions. Effective communication and collaboration skills with Operations, Engineering, Compliance, management, contractors, vendors, and other internal and external stakeholders. Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card or ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe following hire.
