Job Summary Novant Health Coastal Carolina Medical Center is hiring a Certified Surgical Tech. Location: 1000 Medical Center Dr., Hardeeville, SC 29927 Status: Full Time Schedule: 4 10‑hour shifts or 3 12‑hour shifts – 2 to 3 call shifts per month, including 1 24‑hour weekend call shift About the Facility Since opening in 2004, Novant Health Coastal Carolina Medical Center has become a major health care facility serving communities in and around Jasper County, SC. Services Robotics for all general, urological, and gynecology needs Hernia repairs Gallbladder and appendix Bowel resections Port placement and removals Total joint replacements Arthroscopy surgery Treatment of fractures Urological treatment for stones Gynecological hysteroscopies and ablations Pain therapy EGD and colonoscopies Responsibilities Sterilizing: cleaning the operating room and sterilizing all surgical equipment. Setting up: arranging sterile instruments, solutions, and supplies per the surgeon’s preferences. Prepping the patient: transporting patients, helping position them on the operating table, and disinfecting incision sites. Passing instruments: handing sterile tools, sponges, and medications to the surgeon. Maintaining sterility: ensuring everything touching the patient is germ‑free to prevent infection. Assisting the doctor: holding retractors, cutting sutures, and handling tissue samples for lab testing. Wound care: applying bandages and sterile dressings to the incision site. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D – Operating Room Specialist) preferred. Experience: Previous surgical technologist experience preferred. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current Surgical Tech Certification (CST, TS‑C, NRCST, or SA‑C) required. Certification must meet South Carolina state regulations. Additional skills: New graduates who are not program graduates must obtain certification within 12 months of hire. Candidates must complete generic and department‑specific skill validation and competency testing. Demonstrated customer service, communication, interpersonal, and time‑management skills are required.
