Opportunity Overview

The Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NNP) plays a vital role in implementing the nursing process, overseeing clinical practices, providing consultative services, and facilitating communication within and between departments. This position encompasses education, leadership, research participation, and comprehensive patient care management from preventive measures to discharge. The NNP operates with a high degree of autonomy and collaborates closely with board-certified or board-eligible physicians to ensure the delivery of specialized care.

The work schedule includes both 8-hour day shifts and night shifts, with options for 16 and 24-hour shifts. The NNP will report directly to the Medical Director of the NICU and will be an integral member of the medical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver personalized care in accordance with professional nursing standards, patient care plans, performance improvement initiatives, educational strategies, and organizational policies.
• Execute duties with a keen awareness of the developmental milestones and safety needs of neonates and infants, utilizing appropriate interventions and assessments.

Clinical Locations

As part of our integrated practice model, care will be provided across two clinical sites:

• Alta Bates Summit Medical Center:
  • 55-bed NICU
  • Level III NICU
  • Over 4,000 deliveries annually
• California Pacific Medical Center:
  • Regional 35-bed Level III NICU
  • Active well-baby service
  • Extensive maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) program
  • Transport services and high-risk perinatal navigation
  • Comprehensive pediatric subspecialty support through collaboration with a leading children's hospital

Qualifications and Requirements

• Experience:
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NNP), ideally within a NICU setting.
  • At least three (3) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Education, Licensure & Certifications:
  • Master’s degree in Nursing.
  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program recognized by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Current or eligible California RN and NNP licenses.
  • National Nurse Practitioner certification.
  • Valid DEA license and Furnishing Number.
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is between $179,000 and $228,000.
