What you can expect in this role

As a Spectrum intern, you’ll spend the summer working alongside two teams: your respective department and your intern cohort.

Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on internship experiences that include a kickoff conference, professional development sessions and networking activities, webinars, community service, cross-functional projects and final presentations.

This experience is designed to help you explore your interests, expand your network and leave with a deeper understanding of both your field and the impact of our business.

Internship responsibilities may include:

The Direct Strategic Sourcing Intern provides vital support to the sourcing team by assisting with supplier research, data analysis, and bid evaluation activities. This position plays a key role in supporting strategic sourcing initiatives for both Network and CPE (customer premise equipment) materials, helping to maintain supply chain efficiency and cost effectiveness within a fast-paced environment.

• Assist in conducting supplier research and market analysis to identify potential vendors for direct materials. Support the preparation and coordination of RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs, including data collection and documentation.
• Analyze supplier bids and quotations to compare pricing, terms, and quality factors. Help maintain and update procurement databases, supplier lists, and spend analysis reports.
• Support contract review processes by gathering relevant documentation and highlighting key terms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as supply chain, quality, and operations to gather requirements and ensure sourcing alignment.
• Assist in tracking supplier performance metrics and maintaining scorecards.
• Participate in supplier communication and follow-up to clarify quotes, delivery timelines, and contract terms.
• Support preparation of presentations and executive summaries for sourcing reviews and decision-making.
• Help ensure compliance with company procurement policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with purchase order processing and requisition workflows as needed.
• Monitor market trends and commodity pricing to support sourcing strategy development.
• Document sourcing processes, lessons learned, and maintain organized records for audits and future reference.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline sourcing activities.

Required qualifications

• Must be a rising senior with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a bachelor’s degree
• Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program
• Ability to travel locally to Spectrum intern development events and activities throughout the program
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), fundamental understanding of Supply Chain and Procurement operations, ability to work through ambiguity without direct guidance

The base pay for this position generally is between $28.50 and $29.50 . The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
