Senior Systems Engineer - Commvault

Salary: $135,000 - 165,000 per year Requirements:

• We require an active Secret-level security clearance or a higher clearance.
• We require a high school diploma or GED.
• We require IAT Level II certification for CSWF compliance, including both an IA credential such as Security+ CE or higher and an OE certification such as a Windows OS certification, CCNA, SolarWinds, or an equivalent qualifying certification.
• We need 8 or more years of experience building and administering enterprise backup platforms, with primary hands-on Commvault experience including CommCell, Media Agents, deduplication, encryption, and air-gap or immutability features.
• We look for experience with other backup solutions such as Veeam or Backup Exec.
• We require 5 or more years of experience supporting Windows Server networks in production, including Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, VSS, and storage services.
• We require 2 or more years of experience working in VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi, vCenter, VM backup and restore workflows, snapshots, Changed Block Tracking, and application-consistent backups.
• We require 2 or more years of PowerShell scripting experience for automation and operational tooling.
• We need practical administration experience with Commvault and/or Rubrik at scale across multi-site, multi-tenant, and varied workload environments.
• We expect working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including routing, VLANs, firewalls, and secure backup data flows.
• We need experience producing technical documentation such as runbooks, standard operating procedures, architecture diagrams, and operational metrics.
• We require the ability to support on-site work and collaborate with government stakeholders at least two days per week, with additional on-site support as directed.
• We require the ability to travel outside the continental United States for trips typically lasting one to three weeks, up to about three times per year.
• We ask applicants to have a current Security+ or similar IA certification.
• We ask applicants to have an Operating Environment certification such as Windows OS, CCNA, SolarWinds, or an equivalent credential.

• We design and document best-practice data protection strategies for mission-facing workloads using Commvault.
• We develop hardened Commvault installation, configuration, and operational procedures aligned with Navy standards and security requirements.
• We engineer, deploy, administer, and continuously improve enterprise-scale backup and recovery solutions.
• We provide engineering support for operational network environments as needed.
• We work with engineers, architects, and solution owners to assess workload needs and implement the most effective backup and recovery approach.
• We support modernization initiatives across cloud technologies, automation, datacenter operations, and evolving data protection capabilities.
• We create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, architecture diagrams, training materials, and operational performance metrics.
• We deliver training and serve as subject matter experts for Commvault backup systems, backup operations, restore procedures, and recovery practices.
• We support VMware, Windows Server, storage, networking, and application teams to maintain reliable and secure backup integrations.
• We participate in backup testing, restore validation, disaster recovery planning, and continuous improvement efforts.
• We travel as needed to support OCONUS operational requirements.
