This executive role bridges technical expertise with strategic vision, ensuring responsible, ethical, and scalable AI adoption across all business units. The position will oversee the technology strategy, development, and implementation of AI models and platforms, enabling the bank to leverage AI for enhanced efficiency and innovation. It will also modernize the organization’s technology function by integrating AI to improve efficiency, customer interactions, and overall system stability, while ensuring the AI platform is scalable, secure, and capable of driving business growth across the enterprise. Success requires a blend of cross-functional collaboration, influence, technical expertise, and leadership to drive AI initiatives, navigate the complexities of AI integration, inspire and guide teams, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.Essential FunctionsDefine and execute the bank’s AI technology strategy aligned with business goalsIdentify high-impact AI opportunities across departments (e.g., fraud detection, risk modeling, customer service automation)Establish AI governance frameworks to ensure transparency, fairness, and compliance with regulationsMonitor and mitigate risks related to bias, explainability, and data privacyCollaborate with risk, legal, and compliance teams to ensure responsible AI useBuild and lead multidisciplinary AI teams (data scientists, engineers, architecture)Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and ethical AI practicesUpskill existing staff and promote AI literacy across the organizationTranslate business requirements into scalable AI solutionsIntegrate AI into core banking systems and customer engagement platformsTrack and report on AI performance metrics (e.g., cost savings, customer satisfaction)Basic QualificationsSignificant years of experience executing AI technology strategy aligned with business goalsAdept in identifying high-impact enterprise-wide AI opportunitiesExperienced in establishing AI governance frameworks to ensure transparency, fairness, and compliance with regulationsKeen in monitoring and mitigating risks related to bias, explainability, and data privacyExperienced and comfortable collaborating with risk, legal, and compliance teams to ensure responsible AI useSuccessful background in building and leading multidisciplinary AI teams (data scientists, engineers, architecture)Clear success to date in upskilling employees, advancing AI literacy across the organization, translating business requirements into scalable AI solutions and integrating AI into core banking systems and customer engagement platformsAdept in reporting on AI performance metricsPreferred Skills/QualificationsProven experience delivering enterprise-grade platforms (not SaaS)Hands-on engineering background (app development or infrastructure)Expertise in Cloud, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelinesEnd-to-end platform delivery and adoption experienceCloud experience: Azure and AWS preferred; GCP acceptableFamiliarity with Jira and Confluence for backlog managementProven experience leading large engineering teams (50+ including managers)Skilled in backlog prioritization and delivering diverse AI capabilitiesTrack record of platform delivery beyond POC with multiple enhancementsStrategic collaboration with senior leadershipExpert in grasp of AI governance, ethics, and complianceProven to inspire teams and navigate complex AI integrationProven record of fostering innovation and continuous improvementLocation ExpectationsThis role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.If there’s anything we can do to accommodate a disability during any portion of the application or hiring process, please refer to our disability accommodations for applicants. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
