Department InformationThis position is within the Office of Grants and Contracts Accounting and reports to the Director of Cost Accounting and Compliance. The Office of Grants & Contracts (G&C) Accounting is part of the Finance and Planning Division within Administration and Finance at Georgia Tech. In alignment with institute and division-wide goals to advance research development at Georgia Tech, G&C provides post award accounting and reporting services, cost accounting and compliance functions, grants systems management, and program management related to sponsored programs for the academic units of the Institute (excluding the Georgia Tech Research Institute - GTRI) and the Georgia Board of Regents.
Job SummaryThe Financial Analyst role will develop and compile financial data and conduct analyses, reconciliation and projection in support of departments. This role will prepare a full range of financial related reports, which may include cost studies, budget forecast and modeling, and other tools.
Responsibilities Job Duty 1 -
Use data entry, calculations, estimates, reconciliations, reports, etc. in order to achieve results of data needed for analysis. This may be inclusive of projects, programs, or other initiatives where data analysis is needed. Runs reports as needed.
Job Duty 2 -
Determine, develop, organize and streamline data to be used for completion in financial analysis. Provide review and approval of financial documents, transactions, etc.
Job Duty 3 -
Prepare forecasts and analysis of trends in general business conditions and other related areas.
Job Duty 4 -
Analyze and verify funding sources to ensure appropriate spending and billing practices.
Job Duty 5 -
Provide results of analysis and methodology used to determine results.
Job Duty 6 -
Remain current on financial reporting (internal to organization) and external, applicable regulations, processes, etc.
Job Duty 7 -
May be responsible for performing assigned financial audit functions; based on results from financial analysis to problem solve complex issues.
Job Duty 8 -
Prepare financial summaries and any other specialized reports for presentation.
Job Duty 9 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
Associate's Degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Required Qualifications
Familiarity with applicable state and federal laws and regulations regarding commercial contracts
Required Experience
Two or more years of relevant experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Professional certification in accounting or financial analysis Application of specialized skills within a university or government agency environment; ability to apply knowledge of regulations and reporting requirements specific to area of involvement
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent; related experience or advanced certification.
Annual Salary $56,679-$65,000. Commensurate with education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities SKILLS
This job requires knowledge of the application of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices; financial analysis and forecasting techniques; use of specialized financial/accounting related software; communications and presentation skills. Use of business and financial related computer applications is required.
