Job Type – Full-Time

Salary - $140K to $150K per annum

Mission:

We are seeking a high-caliber Fabrication Manager to oversee a comprehensive custom fabrication and assembly operation. This role is responsible for directing a multidisciplinary shop—including machine, assembly, and electrical panel departments—comprising approximately 26 personnel.

Day to Day

• Production Leadership: Directly manage a team of 26 across the machine shop, assembly floor, and electrical panel shop. Focus on leading people, not just managing processes.
• Advanced Scheduling: Mastermind the shop's production schedule. Coordinate man power to ensure custom fabrications (including fire pump skids and specialized mechanical systems) are completed on time.
• Operational KPIs: Own the "Percentage of Completion" (POC) metrics. Track and report on shop productivity to ensure project managers have real-time data for revenue recognition without needing to manually audit the floor.
• Quality & Compliance: Maintain the shop's ISO 9001 certification. Ensure all fabrications meet stringent quality standards and that inventory management systems are strictly followed.
• Safety Stewardship: Act as the primary advocate for shop safety, ensuring all team members adhere to safety manuals and industry-best practices.
• Financial Oversight: Manage the general financials of the fabrication group (P&L oversight). Note: This role does not involve pricing or estimating, as those are handled by procurement.
• Technical Review: Read and interpret complex fabrication drawings and blueprints to guide the team through technical hurdles.

Must Haves

• Leadership Experience: 5+ years of experience managing a large-scale fabrication or industrial assembly team.
• Project Management: Strong background in scheduling, man power planning, and KPI tracking.
• Welding background- Have been a welding inspector or in a Welding QA/QC position before
• Scheduling- Create, Manage and maintain the scheduling of the shop, he needs a master scheduler, looking for someone who has created a man power loading schedule and maintained it.
• ISO9001- did the auditing and created the processes
• Industrial background- Someone coming from an industrial background is needed and will help with us find the right candidate that has the right experience.

Education

• High School diploma or GED.
• Plusses:
• Proficiency in MS Project or AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with electrical panel assembly or general electrical systems.
• Experience with high-value project backfills and continuous manufacturing cycles.
• Strong preference for candidates with a mechanical fabrication background over purely electrical or construction-focused experience.

• Direct Reports: 26 people.
• Shop Scope: Oversees several shops (including electrical and others). Focus is on a fabrication shop (more than just piping).
• Products Built: Fire pumps, fire protection systems, and custom equipment.
• Environment: Lots of moving parts (cranes, welding, etc.).
• Daily Focus: Running projects, managing schedules, and managing people.

Key Requirements & "Must-Haves" for the Resume

• Experience: 3+ years of management experience. Fabrication shop experience is an absolute must-have.
• Skill Focus: Mechanical experience is prioritized over electrical.
• Safety: Must be a highly safety-focused individual (familiar with OSHA and working around shop hazards like cranes and welding).
• Software & Technical Skills: * MS Project.
• AutoCAD is a huge plus.
• Must be able to read isometric drawings.
• Must be able to understand ISO data sheets and lobbing procedures sent over by PMs.
• What to Avoid: Pure QA/QC profiles. They need someone to manage QA/QC personnel and processes, not do the direct QA/QC work.
• Electrical Knowledge: Not required to be fluent. There is already a dedicated person handling panels and electrical systems.

• ISO 9001: Strong focus on working within ISO processes, compliance, and utilizing inventory management systems.
• KPIs: Centered around tracking, scheduling, and project execution
