Fire Sprinkler Designer

The Fire Sprinkler Designer is responsible for designing code-compliant fire sprinkler systems for commercial, residential, and industrial projects from concept through final as-built documentation. This role ensures system layouts, hydraulic calculations, and shop drawings meet all applicable NFPA standards, local codes, and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Designer works closely with Project Managers, field teams, engineers, and permitting authorities to deliver accurate, coordinated, and constructible designs. This position directly impacts project efficiency, inspection success rates, installation productivity, and company reputation for technical excellence. Core Responsibilities Design fire sprinkler systems for commercial, residential, industrial, and retrofit projects. Prepare accurate hydraulic calculations in accordance with National Fire Protection Association standards. Produce detailed shop drawings, layout plans, and material listings using AutoSPRINK, HydraCAD, Revit, or similar software. Interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings to ensure coordinated system layouts. Ensure compliance with: NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, NFPA 13D & Local building and fire codes Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, AHJs, Fire Marshals, and permitting authorities. Revise designs based on plan review comments, field changes, and coordination conflicts. Support submittals, product data packages, and construction documentation. Prepare accurate as-built drawings reflecting field modifications. Maintain organized project documentation and version control. Manage multiple active design projects while meeting deadlines and quality standards. Proactively identify design conflicts or code issues before submission or installation. Required Skills & Qualifications Proven experience as a Fire Sprinkler Designer Must provide samples of completed fire sprinkler designs Must provide samples of hydraulic calculations Strong working knowledge of NFPA 13, 13R, and 13D Proficiency with design software (AutoSPRINK, Revit, HydraCAD, or similar) Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP plans Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple projects independently Strong communication and coordination skills Preferred NICET Certification (Level II or higher strongly preferred) Experience coordinating with AHJs and Fire Marshals Commercial, residential, retrofit, and high-piled storage project experience Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection Familiarity with hydraulic calculation software and water supply analysis #J-18808-Ljbffr
