We are looking for a highly talented Data Engineer to support Technology, Marketing, and Business Strategy teams. We are looking for a high-performing individual with an analytical mind and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

The primary role will be to use a range of database technologies, including SQL, Hadoop and raw JSON data to support our team in performing research, implementing key metric calculations, and helping to develop marketing strategies and tactics. You will also be required to create or modify datasets in various programming languages, which may include R, Python, Ruby and Java.

Responsibilities:

You will report directly to the VP of Technology to inspire strategy, product planning, marketing and sales efforts based on the result of statistical analyses and market insights. As a key member of the team, you will participate efforts toward development of the company’s core platform. You will function within a flexible, informal and self-driven environment.

• Automate ongoing data processes
• Architect and Implement solutions for collection, storage and optimization of data
• Work with product and analytics teams to compile historical results, test hypotheses, answer key questions, and create reports and dashboards.
• Be able to synthesize data from various sources
• Conduct ad hoc data analysis based on current teams’ needs and management priorities
• Collaborate across departments and levels to improve reporting and address client-specific requests.
• Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects

Requirements:

• BS/MS in a related discipline or equivalent self-study
• At least 3 years of solid Java experience with expert OO abilities
• At least 3 years of hands on experience working with large database systems.
• At least 3 years experience writing and developing SQL code (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Expertise in multiple programming languages (such as R, Python, Java, Perl, Ruby)
• Experience with Hadoop using Pig and Hive
• Proven experience writing sophisticated SQL queries across complex database structures.
• Working knowledge of Linux and shell scripting
• Excellent communication skills including solid verbal and written skills
• High personal productivity with demonstrated follow-up ability

Salary range: $160,000-$190,000
