California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering. Student Population. Cal Poly Pomona is the number one polytechnic university in the nation for student diversity and economic mobility. The College offers 12 ABET-accredited undergraduate degrees and seven Master's degrees to over 8,500 students across seven academic departments that include: Aerospace Engineering, Chemical and Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The College is nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report and currently ranks 9 th among undergraduate engineering programs in non-doctorate-granting public institutions. Additionally, it houses more than 40 student clubs that offer hands-on learning opportunities and have been recognized at several national competitions. Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering : The Chemical and Materials Engineering (CME) Department offers two Bachelor of Science programs in Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering, serving approximately 400+ students. The department also offers a Masters in Materials (MSMTE) degree and a Minor in Materials Engineering. The department also offers service courses for other majors within the college. The department currently has eight tenured/tenure-track faculty members and eight lecturers. Our faculty and students come from a diverse set of backgrounds. The department actively pursues outcomes-based assessment to evaluate its effectiveness in promoting student learning and the success of its graduates. The department has established ties with local industry, and its Industry Action Council is very active in supporting the programs. The faculty are active in research and the students regularly present papers at conferences and have been recognized with awards at the local, regional, and national levels.

Position description : The Chemical and Materials Engineering Department invites applications at the Assistant Professor level for one tenure-track faculty position beginning August 2027/Fall semester to teach a broad range of chemical engineering courses and laboratories including material and energy balances, thermodynamics, transport phenomena, unit operations, process design, and emerging technologies in chemical engineering.

The successful applicant will participate in all aspects of the department's mission, including teaching and advising students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, developing curriculum and laboratories, establishing a well-funded research program and participating in service to the department, college, university, and the profession. Applicants whose work incorporates energy systems and sustainability are particularly encouraged to apply.

Minimum requirements include :
• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or closely related program from an accredited university by the date of appointment,
• Demonstrable skills/potential for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, and in developing and implementing laboratory-based experiments
• Demonstrable experience/interest in establishing and maintaining sponsored research in a field related to Chemical Engineering,
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and
• Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusive excellence in the academic community through research, creative activities, teaching and/or service and work as well as the profession.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

• An undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Demonstrable and practical skills in teaching a broad range of courses and laboratories in Chemical Engineering.
• Demonstrable skills in the development of sustainable engineering fields, such as energy and the environment.
• Ability to support in major department, college, and university level initiatives, e.g., strategic planning, outcomes assessment, laboratory revitalization, curriculum design, etc.,
• Record of publication in scholarly journals, and
• Ability to work with others in a multi-disciplinary environment.
