Emergency Department Physician Assistant
The primary role of the Emergency Department Physician Assistant will be to provide direct care management of Emergency Department (ED) patients in collaboration with the ED attending physician(s) and other members of a multidisciplinary ED team. This position is specifically to improve care for patients being evaluated and treated in the ED.
As a Physician Assistant, you are delegated the authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. Job functions include diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illness, performing age-appropriate history and physical, ordering and interpreting diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's age-specific needs, prescribing appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments to patient's age specific need, monitoring the effectiveness of treatments, providing education of acute and chronic medical conditions, managing chronic medical conditions, reconciling medication list, facilitating appointments to specialist, providing thorough exams and evaluations of patient's health status, facilitating appropriate chronic care management, preventive medicine, keeping track of and referring patient to appropriate preventive medical screenings, counseling and reinforcing patients in healthy life style habits.
Education requirements include Physician Assistant certification, Massachusetts license, ACLS Certificate, MCSR (Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration). Experience includes proficient computer skills (MS Word), EMR experience required, ability to document in electronic health record completely and accurately, knowledge of clinical reminders and how to use them appropriately, good communication skills, both spoken and written, willingness and ability to work in a team environment, and ability to change with the ever evolving healthcare field.
Work location is One Hospital Road. Employee type is Per Diem with a rotating work shift. Pay range is $59.04 - $83.59/Hourly.
