Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Nursing)

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Emergency Department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in emergency care and be comfortable working with a diverse patient population, including pediatrics.

Position Overview

This position requires the ability to manage patients with a variety of urgent medical conditions. You will be expected to deliver high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to assigned patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
• Collaborate with medical staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.
• Participate in patient and family education related to health management and disease prevention.
• Document all patient interactions and care provided in the electronic medical record.
• Assist in triage and prioritize patient needs effectively.
• Support the facilitation of SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) care as required.
• Adapt to changes in workload and patient care needs; floating between units may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department setting.
• Experience with pediatric patients is preferred.
• Current and active New York State RN license.
• Valid NURSYS report for license verification.
• Maintain current certifications: AHA ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC.
• Proficient in using electronic medical records-experience with EPIC is required.
• Must have a valid driver's license matching the provided demographics.

Unit Information

The Emergency Department comprises 64 beds, including triage, acute, trauma, and pediatric areas. Common patient diagnoses include Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction, Cardiac Arrest, and Respiratory Failure. The department is equipped with specialized tools such as Rapid Infusors and Arctic Sun, and serves a wide range of patients from newborns to geriatrics.
