Position Summary A Lead Surgical Technician assists in the organization and daily functions of the operating room for all surgical cases in accordance with established federal, state, and accreditation standards and facility policies and procedures. They will also assist nurses and physicians in delivering the highest standard of patient care available. Roles and Responsibilities Monitor and direct the activities of assigned surgical techs in the OR to achieve optimum performance, efficiency, and quality outcomes. Oversee the ASC’s sterile processing function. Utilize specialized knowledge of surgical techniques while providing direct and indirect patient care. Assist in set-up of operating room with all necessary equipment and supplies. Assist with the preparation, transportation, and monitoring of patients. Provide assistance to team members, physicians, and anesthesia personnel as needed (i.e., reliability, initiative, work relations, training needs). Review physicians' preference cards and update as needed. Handle stress associated with prioritizing multiple tasks. Select equipment and supplies in an organized, cost-effective, and timely manner. Perform other tasks as assigned. Experience Requirements 3 years of hospital main operating room experience desired. Effective communication skills; oral and written. Familiarity with standard surgical instruments and equipment. Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and Medical office software. Strong organization skills. Self‑motivated with problem‑solving skills. Education Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Current BLS certification required. Certification as a surgical technician and proof of registration with the State of Washington. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
