Automation EngineerAECOM is recruiting talented individuals to join our Industrial Engineering team across multiple regions and offices. The Automation Engineer will report to an Industrial Manufacturing Principal, supporting the delivery of high-value Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial projects, contributing to both technical excellence and commercial success while developing client relationships and business development. This is a customer-facing Automation Engineer role supporting industrial automation environments.This role is ideal for candidates with experience as an Automation Engineer, Controls Engineer, or Electrical Engineer working with:PLCsSCADA systemsIndustrial automation and systems integrationRoboticsDrives, servos, and motion controlDCS and industrial control systemsKey ResponsibilitiesAutomation Engineer responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot control systems for industrial automation applications including PLCs, HMIs, drives, and networksCreate and sustain automation and control system architecturesCollaborate with engineers, project managers, and system owners to ensure projects are completed on-time and within budgetConduct testing and commissioning of automation systemsAnalyze system requirements for industrial automated manufacturing control systemsTravel to client sites will be required across the US and, where necessary, internationally.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of hands-on experience working with motion control systems, and electrical control panel design or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationDue to the nature of the role, United States Citizenship is requiredPreferred Experience:Experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment/systems in industrial manufacturing facilitiesKnowledge of PLC programming, HMI design, industrial networks and ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs and general engineering documents/drawingsExperience with the following:PLCsSCADA systemsIndustrial automation and systems integrationRoboticsDrives, servos, and motion controlDCS and industrial control systemsAdditional InformationSponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this positionThis role will be aligned to an AECOM office in Eastern US (flexible location-prefer Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina), with hybrid working arrangements.Travel to client sites will be required across the US and, where necessary, internationally.At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
