Associate Attorney (Memphis)

Role Description The Associate Attorney will work full time in office based in Memphis, Tennessee, with some flexibility to work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents, and providing clear, practical legal advice to clients. The role involves assisting with case strategy, participating in negotiations, managing discovery, and collaborating with senior attorneys on labor and employment and other defense matters. The Associate Attorney will interact with clients, attend hearings and depositions as appropriate, and help maintain high standards of professionalism, efficiency, and client service. The position requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Law, with an ability to analyze complex legal issues and apply relevant statutes and case law.
• Experience or coursework in Labor and Employment Law, including familiarity with workplace regulations and employment-related claims.
• Ability to provide clear, practical Legal Advice to clients, focused on risk management and litigation strategy.
• Proficient Research skills, including use of legal databases and effective fact-gathering to support motions and trial preparation.
• Effective Negotiation skills for settlement discussions, mediation, and client advocacy.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission, or eligibility for admission, to the Tennessee bar.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including precise drafting and confident courtroom and client presentation.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a litigation team and to manage deadlines and multiple matters.
• Prior experience in defense litigation or a related practice area is preferred.
• Commitment to professional ethics, client service, and ongoing development of legal and industry knowledge.
