Directional Drill Operators / Locators Underground Fiber Construction – NevadaAllstates Consulting Services is seeking experienced Directional Drill Operators, HDD Locators for underground fiber construction projects throughout Nevada.We are looking for experienced underground construction professionals who can safely and efficiently install conduit and fiber infrastructure while working around existing utilities.This is NOT an entry-level directional drilling position. Previous underground utility construction experience is required for Drill Operators and Locators.Directional Drill Operators / DrillersResponsibilities include:Operate horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment, including Vermeer, Ditch Witch, or similar equipmentPerform pilot bores, reaming, and product/conduit pullbacksRead and follow construction prints, bore profiles, and project specificationsCoordinate continuously with the locator to maintain proper bore depth, direction, and clearanceAdjust drilling techniques based on soil conditions, existing utilities, obstructions, and changing field conditionsWalk and verify proposed bore paths before drillingPerform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenanceProperly set up and ground drilling equipmentMaintain accurate bore logs, including depth and location informationWork safely around existing electric, gas, water, sewer, telecommunications, and other underground utilitiesAssist with potholing/daylighting existing utilities as requiredHDD LocatorsResponsibilities include:Operate electronic HDD locating equipment to accurately track the drill headMaintain communication with the drill operator throughout the boreMonitor and communicate drill-head depth, pitch, direction, and positionWalk and verify the proposed bore path before drilling beginsIdentify potential conflicts with existing underground utilitiesRead and interpret construction drawings, utility prints, and field markingsCalibrate and maintain locating equipment, sondes, and beaconsMaintain accurate bore logs and field documentationAssist in determining appropriate bore paths around existing utilities and obstaclesHelp ensure proper clearances are maintained throughout drilling operationsAssist with potholing/daylighting utilities when requiredRequired Experience & QualificationsPrevious underground utility construction experienceExperienced Drill Operators and Locators must have hands-on HDD experienceAbility to safely work around existing underground utilitiesAbility to read and understand construction prints and utility markingsKnowledge of underground fiber and conduit installationUnderstanding of utility potholing/daylighting proceduresStrong commitment to jobsite safetyAbility to work outdoors in Nevada weather and changing field conditionsAbility to perform physically demanding construction workValid driver's license with acceptable driving recordAbility to travel between project locations as requiredMust be dependable and able to work as part of a production-oriented underground construction crewHighly Desired ExperienceVermeer and/or Ditch Witch HDD equipmentHDD locating systemsUnderground telecommunications/fiber constructionBore logs and as-built documentationHydro-vac excavationExcavators and mini excavatorsInstallation of conduit, handholes, vaults, and pedestalsOSHA 10 or OSHA 30CDL Class AExperience working around active electric, gas, water, sewer, and telecommunications facilitiesWhat We Are Looking ForWe need experienced underground construction professionals who understand that production and safety go hand-in-hand. Drill Operators and Locators must be able to work together as a team, understand the bore plan, recognize potential utility conflicts, communicate continuously, and safely complete underground installations without damaging existing infrastructure.
