The Mission of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is to protect and promote the health of all San Franciscans. The San Francisco Health Network, Population Health, Behavioral Health Services, and Administration are the core divisions of SFDPH. The San Francisco Health Network is the City’s only complete system of care and has locations throughout the City, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and over 15 primary care health centers. The Population Health Division (PHD) provides core public health services for the City and County of San Francisco: health protection, health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and disaster preparedness and response. Behavioral Health Services operates in conjunction with SFHN and provides a range of mental health and substance use treatment services. Under general supervision, the Nurse Manager (Long Term Care/Geriatric Nursing) supervises the delivery of patient care at a licensed general acute care/skilled nursing facility with rehabilitation services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Directs and manages nursing care on assigned units, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care using resident outcomes data. Provides clinical leadership within the institution. Ensures unit compliance with regulatory standards. Represents the Nursing Division in a variety of meetings and committees. Ensures fiscal responsibility in managing resources. Maintains, monitors, and promotes a resident-centered philosophy which supports the autonomy, dignity, and rights of residents and others. The 2322 Nurse Manager (Long Term Care/Geriatric Nursing) may perform other duties as assigned/required. Please note that incumbents in this classification may be required to perform duties as listed in the class specification, which can be found on DHR’s website: How to qualify MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Required): LICENSE : Possession of a valid, including temporary or interim, California Registered Nurse License issued by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN); AND EDUCATION : Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and/or university in Nursing, Nursing Administration, or a closely related field; AND EXPERIENCE : Two (2) years (equivalent to 4,000 hours) of experience as a Registered Nurse in a long-term care, rehabilitation, or acute care hospital, within the last five (5) years. Substitution Two (2) years of additional experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse in a long-term care facility, licensed home health agency or other hospital setting may be substituted for the educational requirement. One (1) year (2,000 hours) of work experience is equivalent to 30 Semester Credits or 45 Quarter Credits. Certification: The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be the Rule of 10 Scores. Eligible List/Score Report: A confidential eligible list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created and used for certification purposes only.
