Summary:The main function of an Industrial Engineer is to design, develop, test and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis and production coordination. A typical Industrial Engineer is tasked with increasing productivity through the management of people, methods of business organization and technology.Job Responsibilities:Review statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and set quality and reliability objectives of finished product.Review and approve manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities to management.Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards.Create and implement quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.Review and submit production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control.Review operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization charts, and project information to assign worker functions and responsibilities.Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.Skills:Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.Team player and detail oriented.Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.Strong ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.Strong knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.Strong knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadershiptechnique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as MS Visual Basic, MS Project, and ABAQUS.Education Required:Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.Experience Required:8-10 years' experience.Manager is open to looking for entry level candidates. 2+ years of industrial engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment (automotive or similar discrete assembly preferred).Experience in automotive assembly or other complex, mixed-model manufacturing operations will be highly preferred.Demonstrated expertise in core IE methods: time study and work measurement, line balancing, standardized work development, capacity analysis, and layout fundamentals.Hiring Manager's Top Skills:Proven experience leading cross-functional projects that deliver measurable productivity, quality, or cost improvements.Proficiency with industrial engineering and analytical tools (e.g., time study/standards systems, line balance/throughput tools, CAD for layout, and data analysis/visualization tools).Strong ability to interpret and apply ergonomic and safety requirements within process and workstation design.Demonstrated skill in communicating technical information clearly to both leadership and hourly teams, including development of clear documentation and presentations.Ability to spend significant time in the manufacturing environment, including walking long distances, climbing stairs, and wearing required personal protective equipment.
