Laboratory Technician

As Laboratory Technician at IDEXX, you perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. What you’ll be doing as a Laboratory Technician You will use automated analyzers, microscopes and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment. You will perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day. You will set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). What you’ll need to succeed Experience as a Sample Management Technician, Specimen Processor or Specimen Accessioner, performing data entry, adding barcodes to samples, unbagging and preparing samples to move around the lab. Other backgrounds that could fit the role include work in fast‑paced, high‑volume environments such as food service, fulfillment, production, warehouse, etc. Comfort working around and handling clinical samples (blood, urine, feces and biopsies) is a must. Data‑entry skills are a must. High School diploma or equivalent, or a 2‑, 3‑ or 4‑year degree in a science‑related field (preferred). Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) experience and education is a plus. Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers) is ideal. Physical ability to stand and sit for extended periods, use of phone & computer, reach, lift up to 50 lb, and meet specific vision requirements. Awareness of potential exposure to biohazards, zoonotic substances and hazardous chemicals. What you can expect from us Hourly rate targeting $22.25/hr. Schedule Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 3:00 am – 11:30 am; every other Monday rotation, with a different day off during the week. Hours may vary slightly depending on business needs.
