Sports and Lifestyle Social Media Manager

Compensation: Starting at $24/hour, based on experience About Nickel & Suede Nickel & Suede is a Kansas City-based fashion accessories brand known for lightweight leather earrings, waterproof jewelry, and a growing collection of officially licensed collegiate and sports jewelry. About the Role We're looking for a Social Media Manager who loves the intersection of sports, fashion, and digital content. This person will help grow Nickel & Suede's social media presence, with a particular focus on our collegiate and sports collections. You'll create content around game-day fashion, school rivalries, product launches, sporting events, and the people and stories behind our brand. You'll also work across our broader fashion and lifestyle collections, collaborating closely with our founder and marketing team. We're looking for someone who enjoys creating content but is equally interested in understanding what makes it perform. You'll have the opportunity to test ideas, study analytics, grow our audience, and help turn social engagement into sales. Responsibilities Social Media & Audience Growth Manage and grow our organic social presence across Instagram, TikTok, and other relevant platforms. Create content for both our main Nickel & Suede account and collegiate athletics channels. Develop content strategies that reach new audiences, increase engagement, and drive traffic and sales. Monitor performance, identify successful content formats, and continually test new approaches. Help expand our presence on TikTok and identify opportunities for social commerce and TikTok Shop. Sports & Game-Day Content Create engaging content around college football, basketball, game-day fashion, and collegiate traditions. Identify opportunities around major games, rivalries, championships, and sports trends. Develop creative ways to showcase officially licensed jewelry and new school collections. Capture content at tailgates, sporting events, campus pop-ups, and other brand experiences. Collaborate with our licensing and sales teams to support new school launches and partnerships. Content Creation & Brand Storytelling Plan, film, edit, and publish Reels, TikToks, Stories, and other short-form content. Capture product launches, styling ideas, photoshoots, behind-the-scenes moments, and everyday brand life. Work directly with our founder to develop content around fashion trends, product development, and styling. Collaborate with the marketing team on seasonal campaigns, promotions, and product launches. Help manage and grow our influencer and ambassador programs. Build relationships with creators, student ambassadors, athletes, and partners who align with our brand. Coordinate product gifting, collaborations, and content opportunities. Track partnership performance and identify opportunities to expand our reach. Analytics & Performance Monitor reach, engagement, follower growth, video performance, and social-driven traffic and sales. Use data to understand what content is working and why. Share insights and recommendations with the marketing team. Develop and test new ideas to improve performance over time. Beyond Social Media We're a small team, and we enjoy being involved in different parts of the business. Depending on the season, you may also: Attend trade shows, markets, and collegiate sporting events. Help sell at pop-ups and retail events. Style jewelry for photoshoots and campaigns. Occasionally model or appear in content. Collaborate with product development and other teams on new ideas. Support special projects and brand experiences. We're Looking For Someone Who... Has experience creating social media content that drives engagement and audience growth. Has a genuine interest in sports, particularly college athletics and game-day culture. Loves fashion, styling, trends, and storytelling. Understands Instagram and TikTok and enjoys learning what makes content successful. Has strong video creation, editing, and photography skills. Enjoys analyzing results and experimenting with new ideas. Is organized, dependable, creative, and self-motivated. Enjoys collaborating with others and being part of a small, hands-on team. Is comfortable interacting with customers, creators, and partners at events. Bonus Points For Experience in collegiate athletics, sports marketing, or sports-related content. Experience growing a personal, brand, or client social media account. Familiarity with college sports, NIL partnerships, or collegiate licensing. Experience with TikTok Shop, influencer marketing, or social commerce.
