Food Pantry Coordinator (Grant Funded)

Job Summary Food Pantry Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and operation of the food pantry program. This position ensures compliance with organizational policies, food safety standards, and applicable regulations, while delivering high‑quality service to Schoolcraft students experiencing food insecurity. The role oversees inventory control, volunteer engagement, and works with the Hinkle Student Resources team to conduct outreach initiatives to support program sustainability. This is a grant‑funded position with a three (3) year term. Position Details Job Title: Food Pantry Coordinator (Grant Funded) Status: Part Time FTE: .625 Classification Title: Classified Grade B Salary & Hours Work Hours: 25 hours/week Salary: Pay range is $20.19–$31.47 per hour Job Duties Use food pantry software and other tools to manage the daily food pantry operations, including but not limited to food procurement, storage, distribution and program promotion. Develop and maintain accurate inventory records and implement stock rotation procedures. Work with the Hinkle Student Resource Coordinator to complete reporting, tracking, and analysis related to food pantry use. Oversee all aspects of the volunteer program, including recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervising volunteers to ensure efficient and respectful service delivery. Ensure all students are served with dignity and confidentiality in accordance with program guidelines. Verify eligibility and maintain accurate client records. Enforce compliance with food safety regulations and organizational standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free work environment. Cultivate relationships with donors, partner organizations, and local agencies. Collaborate with the Hinkle Student Resources Coordinator to manage food drives and other activities to support pantry operations. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Associate degree (or higher) in business, social services, food services, or a related field. At least one (1) year of experience working in nonprofit, grant processing, social services, or food distribution. ServSafe for Food Pantries Certification (or willingness to secure within 90 days of hire). Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and work in a physically active environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.). Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, social services, food services, or a related field. Experience working in a Food Pantry environment. Experience working with grant funding. Experience coordinating volunteers. Physical Demands In‑Person: This position requires the employee to be onsite at Schoolcraft College. Writing Skills: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Communication Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from prospective and current employees, and groups of managers. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
