Position Details Senior Electrician / Maintenance Mechanic - Housing and Conference Services Department: Facilities Maintenance NB Union: AFSCME – Local 888 Grade: 18 (Non‑exempt, Staff 12‑month) Standard Hours: 40.00 hours per week; Day shift 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Location: Rutgers University – New Brunswick (Busch Campus, Piscataway, NJ) Salary: Minimum $48,729.88; Mid Range $57,384.81; Maximum $62,256.38. Final salary offer may be based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Overview The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective agreements, and is responsible for comprehensive services across the state of New Jersey. Responsibilities Perform a wide range of electrical tasks, including estimation, procurement of materials, and repair/installation of electrical circuits, wiring, fixtures, and controls. Work independently with minimal instruction or assistance. Guide and instruct a group of craft trainees in electrical duties required for all Housing facilities. May be assigned general duties in other trade areas. Qualifications High school or vocational education or equivalent. Qualified journeyman electrician registered with the State of New Jersey. Maintain journeyman certification while employed. Valid driver’s license with at least two years driving experience. Successfully complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course. Competent in performing complex repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, including industrial power wiring. Preferred Qualifications No specific preferred qualifications listed.
