TNDC, in collaboration with Newmont, is seeking enthusiasticcandidates (Tahltanor Tahltan Associate) to gainexposure to construction management in various roles. This is a fantasticopportunity to gain valuable experience and contribute to exciting projects. Theprogram will take place over five (5) two-week rotations in Summer 2026 (June –October), with participants contributing to the Construction Management Team(CMT) for the 2026 Tailings Dam Raise at Red Chris. Successful candidates will have a work experiencetailored to their existing qualifications and desired growth areas, withdedicated mentorship from experienced earthworks construction managementprofessionals. The core of the Career Pathways Program will be spentcontributing in an apprentice capacity, receiving on-the-job training andfulfilling the duties of one of the roles below. Candidates will also gainexposure to the full range of construction management career options and havedirect exposure to TNDC and Newmont leadership for career guidance. Resources and opportunities for further career growthwill be jointly supported by Newmont, TNDC, and the TCG Employment Office whowill work to ensure candidates have all the information to support next stepsfollowing program completion. Opportunities Available Programparticipants will contribute to the CMT in one of the following key roles. Please indicate your preferred role as part of your application. 1. Quality Control and Materials Testing Apprentice (entry level, some construction experience valuable). The Quality Control and Materials Apprentice will contribute to all aspects of field quality control and laboratory testing to ensure dam fills conform with technical specifications. In the lab, they will be trained in the use of ASTM standard testing procedures for earth fill materials including grain size analysis, moisture content, and standard proctor tests. The apprentice will also be trained on field construction monitoring procedures including the use of a nuclear densometer gauge. Quality control is an essential component of the quality management system, helping to minimize construction rework and safeguard the integrity of the dams for generations to come. The successful candidate will be mentored by the QC and Lab Supervisor. 2. Health & Safety Apprentice (3+ years of construction experience required, in any role). The Health & Safety Apprentice will contribute to the Health & Safety Team, ensuring the construction program is conducted in a way that protects personnel safety in line with all relevant codes and standards. They will be trained in conducting risk assessments, job hazard analysis, traffic management, and incident response and investigation. The apprentice will also be trained in the administration of the Fatality Risk Management (FRM) program and be coached in conducting field Critical Control Verifications (CCV). Safety is a core value for both Newmont and TNDC, and active engagement from the Health & Safety Team is essential to ensuring that all personnel go home safe. The successful candidate will be mentored by the H&S Lead. 3. Project Coordination Apprentice (3+ years of construction experience required, in any role). The Project Coordination Apprentice will contribute to the Engineering and Coordination team in the tracking and continuous improvement of earthworks construction execution. They will assist in the development of execution plans with a focus on resource management (equipment and personnel) to maximize value opportunities for the project. They will help determine which equipment is best suited for each job, estimate productivities and durations, and provide cost estimates. They will support day-to-day construction tracking activities such as timesheet and haul log entry, data management, short interval controls, and earned value calculations. The successful candidate will be mentored by the Project Coordinator, with close involvement from the Senior Supervisor and Project Engineer. Qualifications Work experiences are available for a range of experience levels. Must be over 18 years old with a valid driver’s license. Basic computer skills are required for all roles (familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint). Specific computer skills training is available if required. Applicants must be Tahltan or Tahltan Associate. Candidates currently employed by TNDC will be reallocated to these roles temporarily with no change in pay or benefits.
