Licensed Practical Nurse - SCI Camp Hill

Position Overview The Licensed Practical Nurse role at the Department of Corrections offers a chance to make a real difference every day. Responsibilities Vital Sign Checks: Check and record vital signs to support accurate assessment of inmate health. Medication Tasks: Prepare and administer medications under proper supervision and document treatments. Direct Care Support: Assist inmates with daily living activities and hygiene to maintain their basic physical needs. Emergency Response: Provide first aid, CPR, or AED support during urgent medical situations. Record Management: Review, update, and maintain electronic health records and required reports. Infection Control: Follow established procedures to keep treatment areas clean and safe. Work Schedule and Additional Information Full‑time employment, 40‑hour work week. The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) 8 or 10 hour work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year: 1st shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM; 3rd shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM. Work hours to be determined. Rotating days off, weekends, and holidays. These positions are eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework: You will not have the option to telework. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $67,558.00 (before taxes). Required Experience, Training & Eligibility This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply. At the time of appointment you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license. Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions. You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements. Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) – 711 available for hearing and speech disabilities or other individuals.
