Growing together.We are looking for a Home Infusion Pharmacist who enjoys both clinical patient care and operational pharmacy responsibilities, while contributing to improved outcomes for patients receiving complex therapies in home and infusion settings. The role offers career growth, comprehensive benefits, and the chance to make a meaningful impact within a national healthcare organization.Position Location: Optum Infusion Pharmacy, 10607 Aurora Ave., Urbandale, IAPosition Hours: Average 20 hours/week; 2 days - 1 week; 3 days the following week with potential to cover more hours. Our pharmacy is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; with ability to work on call.Primary Responsibilities:Dispense unit doses, specialty pharmaceuticals, injectables, IV, enteral and related supplies following state and federal regulations and company policies and proceduresCompound medications using appropriate components, supplies, and sterile/ventilated environmentProcess, pack and ship outgoing pharmacy orders, ensuring drug, related supplies, and patient collateral (education materials) are includedPerform drug/supply ordering and inventory/warehouse duties, including proper storage of drugs and supplies and appropriate refrigeration of perishable product, monitor and adjust/calibrate pharmacy equipment, fill dispensing unitsReview medication orders and evaluates appropriateness and completeness of orders with consideration given to the special needs and behaviors of the specific age group servedVerify all prescriptions not directly received from the prescriber or physician's agentProvides oversight of the safety, appropriateness, and effectiveness of the pharmaceutical care provided to patients (consumers) as it relates to specialty products dispensedAssess the patient at the initiation of drug therapy, develop a patient care plan and drug monitoring regimen, and monitor the patient according to the care plan throughout the course of therapyCommunicate with the patient, physician, nursing staff, other pharmacists, and other members of the health care team regarding patient status, response to therapy, and clinical objectives to ensure clinical outcomes are metWhen required, compound intravenous and specialty pharmaceuticals in an aseptic fashion according to established State Board of Pharmacy, Federal, USP797 sterile guidelines and company policyKnowledgeable of the proper use and handling of both sterile and hazardous medications; Compounds and handles sterile and hazardous medications in accordance with established guidelines and regulationsEnsure compliance with all FDA, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, OSHA, and other regulatory standards; Follows all department policies and proceduresProvide indirect oversight of pharmacy technician and pharmacy support staffPharmacists monitor and verify all prescription orders upon creation and dispensing. Calibrate dosing pumps as applicableInterpret provider prescription and create order, access, input and retrieve prescription and medical/lab information from computer system, verifies whether order/drug is reimbursable/coveredContact members/patients to validate data, resolve rejected claims, request payment information, establish priority of order or delivery details, consult on medication issues, and set up treatment in on-site facilitiesPrep and scan documents, verify member/patient data, submit prescription orders in computer systemYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:BS in Pharmacy or PharmD degreeCurrent, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of IowaProven solid drug product and clinical pharmacy knowledgeProven knowledge in various infusion related therapies with ability to work through the complexity of therapy related ordersDemonstrated proficiency with Microsoft OfficeAbility to fill medication orders accurately and in a timely mannerPermanent residence within a commutable distance to the branchPreferred Qualifications:Pharmacist with Home Care or Home Infusion experienceCPR+ software experiencePhysical Requirement:Sitting, standing, walking in an office / pharmacy operation environmentPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $44 - $79 per hour based on full-time employment.
