JOB TITLE: CAFE ASSOCIATE

CALENDAR: 1811H PART TIME 1911FT FULL TIME (9 MONTHS)

SALARY: GRADE 106 (SUPPORT HOURLY)

Job Goal: To assist in the preparation, serving, and clean‑up of food in a quantity food service operation using safe and efficient food handling practices; and to provide accurate and efficient point‑of‑sale operations while adhering to excellence in customer service Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Ability to read and write English as it pertains to job functions Current Food Handler’s Certificate or acquire within 30 days of hire Experience in food preparation & handling desired Satisfactory criminal background check Ability to work with figures and perform arithmetic calculations Ability to keep accurate records and operate a computerized cash register/computer Ability to operate institutional equipment desired Effective communication with staff, students, parents, and community regarding school food and nutrition programs Vision and hearing adequate for safe job performance Adherence to all policies, rules, and regulations Core Job Functions Demonstrate thorough knowledge of HACCP food safety guidelines and procedures Collect and account for prepayment and real‑time transactions of student meals Maintain an appropriate change fund for registers Accurately perform cashier duties and end‑of‑day procedures as requested Prepare, stock, and maintain the serving line area and assist in food preparation and clean up Accurately identify a reimbursable meal on the serving line, and provide monitoring and guidance to customers to be sure selections meet federal guidelines Safely operate standard and specialized kitchen equipment Setup serving line with appropriate equipment, adhering to safety measures Wash dishes and equipment according to Maricopa County Health Department guidelines Clean work areas and dispose of garbage daily Assist the manager in monitoring and verifying HACCP procedures Ensure product quality by visual inspection and adherence to cooking/serving guidelines Respond to all internal and external customers in a prompt, efficient, friendly, and patient manner Perform other duties relating to the general job function as assigned by the supervisor Core Values Excellence in all we do; the most important product.
