This role offers an opportunity for a Principal-level Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering leadership, design, and analysis of complex mechanical systems for high-profile projects in the Amusement, Entertainment, and Aerospace industries. The engineer will help shape the success of a growing Florida office in the Orlando metro area by delivering innovative, reliable, and cost-effective solutions. The position suits a self-starter with strong technical expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and a passion for hands-on fieldwork and collaborative design processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and analysis of complex mechanical systems and equipment for high-profile Amusement, Entertainment, and Aerospace projects.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design to testing and implementation.
• Develop, review, and refine mechanical designs using CAD tools, ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Perform detailed FEA analysis and hand calculations to verify the structural integrity and performance of mechanical and structural components.
• Apply GD&T principles to ensure precise definition, communication, and verification of part geometry and tolerances.
• Collaborate closely with internal multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders across diverse geographic locations to ensure alignment and project success.
• Integrate mechanical designs with control and electrical systems in coordination with relevant engineering disciplines.
• Participate in hands-on fieldwork, including site visits and support for fabrication, installation, and testing activities.
• Utilize knowledge of fabrication techniques and machine shop processes to influence design decisions and support efficient manufacturing.
• Ensure adherence to applicable industry standards, including ASTM F2291, AISC, and AWS, throughout design and analysis activities.
• Contribute to project planning and execution by delivering high-quality engineering work on time and within budget.
• Support the growth and development of the Orlando office by sharing expertise, mentoring team members, and fostering a collaborative engineering culture.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, Aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in engineering, with a focus on mechanical design and analysis.
• Experience with the design and analysis of mechanical equipment and complex mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in CAD tools, including SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in FEA tools, including SolidWorks Simulation and Ansys.
• Strong expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Demonstrated experience performing FEA analysis and hand calculations for structural and mechanical components.
• Hands-on knowledge of fabrication techniques and machine shop processes.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards, including ASTM F2291, AISC, and AWS.
• Awareness of control and electrical systems and their integration with mechanical components.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across diverse geographic locations.
• Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or the ability to obtain and maintain it.
• E.I.T. credential with a clear intention to pursue the P.E. exam, if not already licensed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in the Amusement or Entertainment industry, or related fields.
• Experience working on high-profile projects in the Amusement, Entertainment, or Aerospace sectors.
• Strong leadership abilities and a self-starter mindset suited to a growing office environment.
• Comfort with hands-on fieldwork and participation in on-site activities.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Ability to balance innovative design with practical constraints related to schedule, budget, and fabrication.

Work Environment

This position is based onsite in the Orlando, Florida metro area at a growing engineering office. The engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams in a collaborative environment that emphasizes hands-on engagement with projects. The role involves frequent use of CAD and FEA tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, SolidWorks Simulation, and Ansys, as well as interaction with fabrication and machine shop processes. The work includes office-based design and analysis activities along with fieldwork and site visits as needed to support project execution and client needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, FL.

The pay range for this position is $63.00 - $82.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
