Job Description The Community Education office is looking for knowledgeable and engaging instructors to lead non-credit courses that enrich lives and build practical skills. Our current offerings include automotive maintenance, gardening and outdoor activities, home improvement, current events and history, world languages, religion and culture, financial management and planning, and personal wellness and self-improvement. We are committed to expanding our course selection and welcome instructors with expertise in these areas—or in related subjects that support personal growth, cultural understanding, and lifelong learning. Adjunct Faculty Will Develop and teach in the assigned subject(s) and level(s) in new or existing programs. Fulfill administrative requirements, meet established deadlines and complete required training. Stay current in compliance training, including compliance under Title IX “Responsible Employee” and, if applicable, Clery Act Campus Security Authority as a condition of employment. Agree to and follow appropriate College and department policies and procedures. Schedule Schedule varies. Days, evenings and Saturday hours are possible. Possible class locations include CLC Grayslake Campus, Southlake Campus (Vernon Hills), Lakeshore Campus (Waukegan), Braeloch Facility, CLC Advanced Technology Center (Gurnee) or a CLC extension site located in communities across Lake County. Delivery modes include in-person, virtual live via Zoom, asynchronous, or a hybrid of the aforementioned. In-person is most common. Required Qualifications Clear background check, along with substantiated subject-matter expertise, effective communication skills, and a commitment to inclusive, learner-centered instruction. Documented record of successfully supporting learners in understanding and mastering new ideas and skills. Competency and/or commitment to learn and use technologies commonly used in instruction at CLC: Microsoft Outlook for all email communications, additional Microsoft applications, common classroom projection technology, Canvas Learning Management System, enrollment software, etc. Ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Desired Qualifications Two (2) years of successful, relevant teaching experience. An appropriate credential or demonstrated mastery in the subject area(s) you are applying to teach, such as a degree from an accredited institution or a relevant industry certification or license.
