- North Carolina Teacher Licensure
- 5 Year Successful Classroom Teaching Experience
- North Carolina Licensure in Curriculum Instruction Supervision or School Administration
- Master's Degree in Education-Related Field
- Administrative Experience Preferred
- Exceptional Children Program Staff
- Directs and supervises programs and services for students in the system with special needs and coordinates the efforts of federal, state and local agencies, private specialists, parents and division supervisors to provide the services
- Monitors the overall effectiveness of programs and ensures that all are implemented within federal, state and local regulations
- Plans, develops, and implements a comprehensive program for students with disabilities which assesses the needs of students, establishes objectives and priorities, delegates responsibilities to staff, develops strategies to achieve objectives and evaluates programs
- Provides direction, consultation and supervision to employees in the Exceptional Children Program
- Consults with centrally based staff and school-based staff regarding individual cases and interpretation of federal, state and local policies and procedures
- Coordinates with local agencies, parents and school personnel to resolve problems and secure needed resources and services
- Designs and implements professional development for staff at the school and district level
- Consults and collaborates with school based staff and central office staff in all departments regarding individual cases and interpretation of federal, state and local policies and procedures, as necessary
- Consults with the school board attorney and school staff regarding individual cases when necessary and attends IEP meetings as needed
- Program Management: Provides effective leadership in the developing comprehensive program plans and implementing and evaluating the planned programs
- Fiscal Management: Assists/prepares budgets, coordinates with other department or agencies to assure maximum services, and maintains records/reports/inventories in accordance with local/state/federal policies
- Information Management: Shares information about programs with various publics, serves as a liaison between the school system and other agencies and assists in the development of in-service staff, Accomplishes personal growth objectives and demonstrates professional ethics
- Personnel Management: Assists in the selection and placement of personnel, delegates and supervises staff responsibilities and assists in evaluating staff
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

- Respond appropriately to inquiries or complaints
- Use tact and courtesy when working and dealing with community
- Read, comprehend, and prepare various kinds of communication and information including emails, correspondence, reports, articles, proposals, contracts, policies, charts, spreadsheets, curriculum documents, staff development plans, educational forms and data
- Write using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
- Speak before groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence
- Apply principles of logical, critical, creative or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Deal with abstract and concrete variables
- Demonstrate and apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instruction and to make simple decisions
- Interpret, infer, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate materials, resources, situations and problems to generate options and solutions
- Interpret and carry out oral and/or written instructions
