Software Engineer - Design Systems

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent formal certification or training.
• We require 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• We need strong hands-on experience building front-end applications and reusable component libraries with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
• We need solid expertise in modern front-end development, including component architecture, state management, and responsive, accessible UI implementation.
• We require strong proficiency with CSS and current styling techniques, including preprocessors such as Sass/LESS and CSS-in-JS.
• We need experience building accessible components to WCAG standards, using semantic HTML, ARIA roles, and proper keyboard interaction patterns.
• We require practical experience using AI-assisted development tools, including coding assistants and agentic workflows, to improve productivity, quality, and delivery speed.
• We need demonstrated ability to quickly learn, assess, and adopt emerging tools and workflows in a fast-changing AI-augmented engineering environment.
• We require experience working in Agile environments such as Scrum.
• We require proficiency with automation and continuous delivery methods.
• We need a deep understanding of the full software development life cycle (SDLC).
• Preferred: experience building and supporting design systems, component libraries, or shared UI frameworks.
• Preferred: familiarity with modern front-end design systems such as Storybook.
• Preferred: experience with vanilla-extract or similar type-safe, zero-runtime CSS-in-JS styling libraries.
• Preferred: hands-on experience creating AI enablement assets such as custom instructions, skills, and prompts, or integrating tools through MCP.
• Preferred: practical knowledge of web accessibility standards such as WCAG and ARIA, plus cross-browser compatibility.
• Preferred: DevOps experience supporting token repositories, build systems, and CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or similar tools.
• Preferred: practical experience with component architecture.

• We design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions across component design and delivery, approaching complex technical problems with fresh thinking.
• We build secure, high-quality production code for reusable UI components and review and debug code written by others to uphold best practices, accessibility, and code quality.
• We create and maintain composable, accessible front-end components that support consistency, performance, and alignment with design and accessibility standards.
• We use AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows to speed up component delivery, code review, testing, and documentation, while applying sound engineering judgment to validate and refine AI-generated output.
• We identify opportunities to remove or automate recurring remediation work, improving the stability and reliability of software applications, build pipelines, and design token repositories.
• We champion communities of practice across software engineering to increase awareness and adoption of new and emerging technologies.
