Job Details Schedule: Monday – Friday; Evening shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm. Location: Missouri Baptist. Overview Memorial Hospital Belleville is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services, critical and emergency care, and pediatric emergency care. It provides a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services, heart and vascular care, and is accredited as a Chest Pain Center, Acute Stroke Ready Hospital, and Lung Cancer Screening Center. Memorial Hospital Shiloh, a 94‑bed all‑private‑suite hospital, provides emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, medical and surgical services, and critical care, and is recognized with Magnet status. Central Processing Services (CPS) includes decontamination, prep and assembly, pasteurization, sterilization, patient care equipment control, and stocking and distribution of procedure carts and totes. Role Purpose The Sterile Processing Technician performs a variety of central sterile processing functions, including the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of sterile surgical instrumentation to the operating room (OR) and other areas throughout the hospital. The technician maintains and controls both sterile and non‑sterile supplies and identifies and remedies equipment and process failures while maintaining complete records. Responsibilities Assembles and processes instrument sets, trays, supplies, and linen; prioritizes trays and tasks according to the surgery schedule. Utilizes and troubleshoots steam sterilizers. Follows proper techniques and procedures to ensure the integrity of the sterilization process. Disassembles, decontaminates, and processes instrumentation according to manufacturer and industry standards. Ensures instrumentation is reassembled correctly and functioning properly. BJC has determined this is a safety‑sensitive position; the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
