Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU position requiring 2 years of NICU experience with trach/vent skills and an active MD or Compact RN license.

Details

• NICU unit within a pediatric hospital setting
• Patient population includes neonates, infants, and pediatrics with diagnoses such as prematurity, AOP, ROP, BLD/CLD, cardiac defects, feeding issues, and NAS
• Patient ratio of 1:3, up to 1:4 with lower acuity patient groups
• Utilizes specialized equipment including trach/vents, PICCs/central lines, and TPN/IL
• Alternating day and night shifts (3x12 hours), 7:00-19:00 and 19:30-7:30
• 36 hours per week with every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within the specialty and sister units as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Meditech charting system experience preferred
• Scrubs of any color or print permitted

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required (non-negotiable)
• Experience with pediatric trach/vent patients required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• CPI certification required
• ACLS preferred (AHA only)
• NRP or AAP certification accepted
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care, and medication administration required
• Ventilator management and tracheostomy care/management experience required
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonatal, infant, and pediatric patients including those with respiratory, cardiac, and feeding complications
• Perform trach and ventilator management as part of daily patient care responsibilities
• Support skills in blood product administration, TPN/lipids management, and anti-seizure medication administration are preferred
• Assist with procedures such as lumbar puncture and manage seizure disorders as needed
• Travelers are expected to float within their specialty and sister units with priority given to floating
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
• Returning travelers must have been away from the system for at least 6 months following a prior assignment
• Former staff members must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
