Military Family Life Counselor (School Based)

Location: Fairborn, OH 45324 Date Posted: 10/01/2026 Category: Therapy Education: Master's Degree JCS Military is looking for a Licensed Counselor to support school aged military children in school districts surrounding Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH . We require counselors to be able to practice at the highest independent level with an LPCC, LISW, or IMFT. The Military Family Life Counselor (Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB)) will provide face to face direct, non-medical, brief, solution-focused counseling services to children for situations resulting from commonly occurring life circumstances such as parenting, stress, personal loss, and deployments and reunions. Will exercise discretion and independent judgment to provide appropriate information, coaching, training, and education to the children. CYB School counselors will be assigned to Department of Defense (DoDEA) schools and community schools and will need to have experience working in a school setting to qualify for a school position. All interested candidates MUST be licensed at the independent practice level and hold an LPCC, LISW, or IMFT.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide non-medical, short-term, solution focused, counseling directly to eligible children and youth of service members at assigned schools or secondary locations.
• Consultation with parents and personnel at Child Development Centers and schools
• Consultation to installation command regarding behavioral health issues affecting children and youth
• Provide training and health and wellness presentations, participates in health fairs and other base/installation activities focused on children and youth.
• Developing and/or using approved counseling, training, education programs, and materials.
• Communicating information regarding trends and issues at assigned installation to Team Leads.
• Participating in regular in-service training or other contract activities as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

• Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience
• Minimum of a Master's Degree (MA/MS/MBA) with study in Behavioral Health
• Licensed at the independent practice level (LPCC, LISW, IMFT)
• Must be able to pass a basic background check for employment, a Child National Agency Check, and Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) clearance, commonly called a Public Trust clearance
