Assembler (Mechanical Assembler & Electrical Control Panel Builder)This role offers two distinct paths within assembly: Mechanical Assembler for large, heavy mechanical builds and Electrical Control Panel Builder (Wirer) for custom electrical distribution and control panels. You will build complex equipment from detailed blueprints and schematics, using specialized tools and material-handling equipment. The position requires strong mechanical or electrical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality in a manufacturing environment.ResponsibilitiesBuild large, heavy mechanical sub-assemblies and custom-engineered or rotating equipment according to engineering specifications.Interpret and work from complex blueprints, engineering schematics, wiring diagrams, and stack-up dimension drawings.Align, fit, bolt, pin, or rivet heavy structural and machined parts together to create large-scale assemblies.Use precision measurement tools such as dial indicators, micrometers, calipers, and tape measures to verify tolerances and ensure accurate assembly.Safely operate heavy material-handling equipment, including overhead cranes and forklifts, to position large components.Utilize heavy pneumatic tools, electric power tools, and hand tools to perform mechanical assembly tasks.Inspect completed mechanical assemblies, perform functional alignment tests, and record quality data or production output.Follow strict plant safety guidelines, proper rigging protocols, and maintain a clean and organized workspace while wearing required personal protective equipment.Mount backplanes, terminal blocks, circuit breakers, transformers, relays, and switches inside metal enclosures using drilling, tapping, and fastening techniques.Route, cut, strip, crimp, and terminate wires and cables accurately using hand and power tools, following point-to-point wiring diagrams and single/three-phase electrical schematics.Perform continuity, resistance, and functional tests using multimeters to verify circuit integrity and safety compliance before final shipment.Diagnose and correct wiring faults, component failures, or drawing discrepancies, including redlining blueprints as needed.Keep the electrical work area clean, follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, and properly handle shop tools and equipment.Collaborate effectively with project engineers and team members to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and ensure assemblies meet design intent.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or GED certificate.Previous hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, heavy construction, industrial electrical assembly, panel wiring, or electromechanical manufacturing (typically 1 to 3+ years for electrical panel wiring roles).Strong mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning for large-scale mechanical builds.Ability to read and interpret technical mechanical drawings, blueprints, engineering schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials (BOM), and one-line electrical diagrams.Proficiency in mechanical assembly techniques, including aligning, fitting, bolting, pinning, and riveting structural and machined parts.Experience with heavy mechanical fabrication and assembly of large or custom-engineered equipment.Ability to stand for long shifts, bend, reach, and frequently lift heavy materials or components in a production environment.Strong technical knowledge of electrical schematics and AC/DC power systems for control panel wiring.Understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC) fundamentals relevant to industrial control panels.Skilled use of precision measurement tools such as dial indicators, micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.Proficiency with power tools and shop equipment, including pneumatic tools, electric power tools, drill presses, and grinders.Ability to perform electrical testing using multimeters to check continuity, resistance, and functional performance.High attention to detail and fine motor skills to achieve neat, organized wire dressing and clean assembly work.Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with engineers and production team members.Additional Skills & QualificationsVocational training, electrical trade school certificate, or associate degree in electronics is preferred for electrical panel building roles.Formal qualification or demonstrated proficiency in electrical panel wiring.Experience in heavy mechanical fabrication and assembly of large industrial equipment.Ability to troubleshoot wiring issues, component failures, and drawing discrepancies, including updating and redlining blueprints.Comfort working with control panels, electrical distribution systems, and rotating equipment.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while meeting production deadlines.Commitment to quality standards, accurate documentation, and continuous improvement in assembly processes.Why Work Here?You will join a manufacturing environment that values craftsmanship, safety, and technical excellence. The role involves standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and lifting heavy components, and requires adherence to strict plant safety guidelines, OSHA standards, and proper rigging protocols.
