Production Team Lead

Job Title Production Team Lead (Full Time) Schedule & Location Schedule: 1st Shift 5:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday, with rotating Saturday work based on production schedule. Location: 1325 Chase Ave, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007. Compensation & Benefits Salary: $24.86 per hour (1st shift). Benefits: Based on Union Contract Provisions. Duties and Responsibilities Operate, monitor, and maintain processing and packaging machinery; ensure product flow and safety. Perform equipment operations and maintenance activities including forklift driving, die changes, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive upkeep. Complete equipment changeovers, perform routine checks, and ensure sanitation after changeovers. Use SAP, IQS, MII, and Weaver to keep processing flowing and monitor equipment performance for safe, efficient operation. Oversee production lines, ensuring equipment setup, staffing, and material organization; collaborate with Maintenance to ensure functionality. Inspect products for labeling and placement; manage materials following FIFO inventory methods; record shipments in SAP. Conduct quality checks, verify weight and material accuracy, and enforce compliance with GMP, HACCP, SQF, FSMA, and food‑safety standards. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation; lead FSQ compliance; mentor team on food safety; enforce sanitation accountability. Assist and train team members; coordinate activities, assign tasks, lead shift meetings, guide changeovers, and provide feedback. Document production paperwork, record inventory transactions, participate in 5S efforts, conduct improvement projects, analyze downtime, and report issues to supervisors. Knowledge, Training and Experience Minimum: High School Diploma or GED; 1 year manufacturing/food production experience; forklift certification preferred for advanced level; 18+ years of age. Technical & Mechanical Skills Operate and troubleshoot production line equipment including cartoners, baggers, case packers, sealers, depalletizers, and palletizers. Expert troubleshooting of high‑speed processing equipment; proficiency in SAP, hand scanners, W/C, and basic math. Advanced levels require proficiency in MII, WE systems, and interpreting line huddle measures. Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Safety & Compliance Knowledge of GMPs, SQF, HACCP, FSMA and other regulations; commitment to company safety policies; ability to lift up to 50lbs, push heavy loads, stand/walk up to 90% shift, climb as needed; visual and mobility requirements. Teamwork, Communication & Leadership Effectively communicate in English; work independently and collaboratively; provide training and guidance; lead projects and identify skill gaps.
