Digital Media Intern

Work with a Purpose PBS SoCal is looking for a Digital Media Intern. If you are looking to spend your Fall managing various forms of media. About PBS SoCal PBS SoCal tells stories that matter through original programs that reflect the diversity of the region and the full schedule of trusted PBS and PBS SoCal programs. Our content channels are available for free on internet-connected screens through the PBS and PBS KIDS App, as well as seven local broadcast channels including PBS SoCal and PBS SoCal Plus. Job Overview PBS SoCal is standardizing and optimizing its library of content across digital platforms. The position will require working through a long list of assets to bring metadata, including image treatment, episode chaptering, and playlisting up to date. The Digital Media Intern will work with the Media Manager to determine the best source assets and ensure updates conform with current standards. Primary Duties/Responsibilities Work with the Digital Media Manager to audit and prioritize tasks for content optimization Work through prioritized lists, including updates to metadata, imagery, and related content Review and analyze metrics to make any tactical suggestions Explore opportunities for enhancement on the YouTube platform in particular Conduct independent research as directed; organize and present findings Prioritize, plan, and execute media publication Optimize media for respective platform Research required web technology as needed to be used by web application/site Work with the Digital and Digital Content teams to strategize and plan deliverables Qualifications At least 18 years of age Available for a minimum of 20, but no more than 30 hours per week Reliable transportation access for travel to in-person meetings and events Strong ability to work with new technologies and problem solve, independently or collaboratively High-level proficiency in file format and optimization Proficiency with photo editing software Strong understanding of web-based asset management Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is also required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work Environment The working conditions are primarily in a telecommuting setting. However, the position will require occasional meetings in our Burbank, CA or Costa Mesa, CA office or a nearby venue.
