ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a critical care setting. This role involves direct patient care in a mixed critical care unit with a patient mix that includes neuro, spine, cardiac, medical, and surgical patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for critically ill patients with a registered nurse ratio of 2:1 for critical patients, flexing to 3:1 as needed.
• Utilize advanced skills including managing balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), Impella devices, and caring for patients post-open heart surgery.
• Draw own labs and perform vascular access procedures without the support of a vascular access team.
• Respond independently to calls for consultations and conduct codes as necessary, maintaining composure and effectiveness in emergency situations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Critical Care setting.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas or Compact RN license.
• Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are required.
• Experience with neurological and cardiac patients is preferred.

Work Schedule

This position requires a commitment to 12-hour night shifts, working three shifts per week, with every other weekend included. Flexibility to float to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and acute care settings, including Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units, is expected.

Orientation and Training

New hires will participate in a comprehensive orientation program, including two days of orientation at the regional campus, followed by specialized training and virtual training sessions.

• The current Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in use is EPIC.
• Employees are expected to work one holiday from each holiday grouping per year.
