Deli & Food Service Ops Specialist- Kings and Balducci’s

Position Overview Mid-Atlantic Division (Kings & Balducci's) has an opening for a Deli Ops Specialist – Food Service. The Operations Specialist monitors, enforces, and supports execution of the division merchandising plan for their department in assigned stores. The role involves training, coaching, overseeing, and developing store teams within the department. This is a field role with over 80% travel within the division, supporting locations in the north and south (CT, NY) and (MD & VA). There is some flexibility with location; candidates can live in NY/NJ, Baltimore, or Washington, DC. Responsibilities Drive sales through plan‑ogram compliance, time‑of‑day standards, and execution of variety & merchandising standards. Perform resets as needed. Train and hold stores to standards on all new programs and product implementation. Communicate daily with counterparts including district manager, department sales manager, store management, and department managers. Reinforce service standards and priorities during store visits. Travel to assigned stores working with the Department Manager and staff to share merchandising plans for departments to meet sales, gross and labor targets. Work with and counsel department managers and store directors on all aspects of product merchandising and customer service. Visit stores and evaluate overall department presentation, cleanliness, compliance, and program execution to company policy and procedures. Measure store‑level performance through department sales, gross profit and labor percent. Execute plans measured through store visits, reviewing results of plans, and observing store department conditions. Determine success of training programs by reviewing and assessing evaluations. Provide work guidance to store associates in areas such as product knowledge, sales and marketing techniques, understanding of profit and loss and compliance with company policies. Train department managers on fundamentals of the business and department management. Provide input to Store Director on Store Department Manager performance. Qualifications College degree or equivalent work experience. 5+ years as a field supervisor in deli or food service in grocery retail with a strong understanding across the assigned department. Previous Department Manager and Store Director experience (core priority). Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the phone. Marketing orientation, good analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Math skills to complete straightforward analysis. Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate others without directly supervising. Travel Requirements Division‑wide travel, up to 80%. Benefits Competitive wages paid weekly.
