Inhospital Physicians is seeking Emergency Medicine physicians to join the team at St. John s Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas. This is a community-based ED with a strong culture, consistent volume, and diverse case mix, including behavioral health and correctional population exposure.
This role is ideal for physicians who value autonomy, efficiency, and a supportive team environment.
Position Highlights- 1099 independent contractor role
- 12-hour shifts
- Full-time: 120 hours/month

- Behavioral health (SI, PTSD)
- Urologic complaints
- 1 Emergency Medicine physician (day)
- 1 Emergency Medicine physician (night)
- 1 APP (mid-shift)
- Admissions managed by hospitalists
- 14 ED beds with fast track
- Serves multiple correctional facilities (including a federal detention center)
- EMR: Epic with Dragon dictation
- Intensivist support available
- Tele-neurology support
- Anesthesia support
- Strong, team-oriented culture
- Experienced, low-turnover staff
- Community hospital feels with reliable support
- Physician lounge
- Meals provided (day shift)
- Designated provider parking
- Board Certified / Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM preferred)
- Will consider ABFM with 2+ years Emergency Medicine experience or EM fellowship
- Active or eligible for Kansas medical license (IMLC eligible)
- Comfortable with independent coverage and transfer-based care
- Transfer coordination required for certain specialties
- Correctional patient population is a meaningful part of the volume
- Standalone ED model requires adaptability
