Geriatrician – Bronx, NY

Location: Bronx, NY
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: $225,000 – $250,000/year, commensurate with experience
Schedule: Full-time with flexible scheduling and 24-hour on-call on a rotating weekly basis

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Geriatrician to join our team at a network of federally qualified community health centers (FQHCs) in the Bronx, NY. In this role, you'll provide specialized medical care to the elderly population within a mission-driven community healthcare setting.

Qualifications:

• MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school, completion of an accredited residency program, and a Fellowship in Geriatrics.
• Valid NY State license, CDS, DEA, and BLS; Board Certified.
• Understanding of and passion for community healthcare preferred.
• Proficient in geriatric assessments, managing polypharmacy, diagnosing age-related conditions, and utilizing electronic health records.
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, empathy, patience, cultural competence, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Examine and test patients to assess medical conditions.
• Analyze records, reports, and test results to diagnose patients.
• Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccinations, and other specialized care to treat or prevent illness.
• Explain procedures and discuss results and prescribed treatments with patients.
• Collect, record, and maintain patient information.
• Refer patients to specialists when necessary; submit progress reports to the CMO.
• Advise patients and the community on diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow federal/state and organizational regulations.
• Plan and administer health programs and standards.
• Attend monthly/quarterly medical staff and education meetings.
• See patients irrespective of condition/diagnosis.
• Provide 24-hour on-call service on a rotating weekly basis.
• Obtain and maintain admitting privileges at affiliated hospitals.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
