Our client is an insurance company. They seek an Investment Accountant to join their Manhattan, NY office.

Responsibilities

• Record and reconcile investment transactions, including purchases, sales, maturities, interest, dividends, and investment income
• Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for investment portfolios
• Assist with the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to invested assets
• Reconcile investment accounting records to custodian statements, investment managers, and the general ledger
• Prepare investment-related financial reports and support internal and external reporting requirements under UK GAAP and statutory accounting standards
• Collaborate with Treasury, Finance, Actuarial, and external investment managers to ensure accurate investment reporting
• Support the valuation and accounting for fixed income securities, equities, alternative investments, and other invested assets
• Assist with audit requests by preparing documentation, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for internal and external auditors
• Monitor investment activity for compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
• Identify opportunities to improve investment accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and system automation

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• 7+ years of accounting experience with exposure to investment accounting, insurance accounting, or financial reporting
• Knowledge of UK GAAP and statutory accounting principles (SAP) preferred
• Experience accounting for investment portfolios, including fixed income, equities, and alternative investments
• Solvency II reporting
• Alteryx experience required
