Data Engineer III - Remote

Salary: $109,000 - 149,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role, including designing and delivering data solutions with Microsoft or comparable enterprise BI/data platform tools.
• Strong SQL expertise, including DDL and DML, with hands-on exposure to SQL Server, DB2, and Oracle.
• Experience with ETL/ELT platforms such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent tools.
• Familiarity with Power BI for development, administration, or deployment.
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or similar modern data platforms is highly preferred.
• Experience using source control tools such as Azure DevOps or Git for versioning and change management.
• Cloud platform experience, preferably Azure, with knowledge of AWS or Google Cloud Platform also valued.
• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, PowerShell, SQL, or DAX/MDX.
• Knowledge of big data technologies such as Spark or streaming platforms such as Kafka is a plus.
• Experience with SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio, or similar development environments.
• Understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehousing approaches such as Kimball.
• Working knowledge of modern data architecture concepts such as data lakes and lakehouses.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency with core Microsoft Office applications; advanced knowledge of SharePoint, Teams, or Visio is an advantage.

• Design, build, and optimize our data pipelines, data lake, and data warehouse environments to support efficient ingestion from SQL Server and other sources.
• Apply modern platform technologies such as Microsoft Fabric to improve scalability and performance where appropriate.
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using tools such as Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or comparable platforms.
• Automate data movement and reinforce data quality through robust integration practices.
• Monitor and tune pipelines for reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Collaborate independently with business leaders, users, and analytics teams to define requirements and prioritize the highest-value data initiatives.
• Partner with database administrators, BI developers, data scientists, and application teams to align data availability with business goals.
• Support Power BI efforts and help enable self-service analytics.
• Maintain thorough documentation for pipelines, data models, governance processes, and data dictionaries.
• Enforce governance, security, and access controls to protect data confidentiality, integrity, and compliance.
• Configure role-based and object-level security across data pipelines, warehouses, and analytics tools.
• Document and improve change management practices using version-controlled, stable, secure environments.
• Evaluate emerging data engineering tools and recommend solutions, especially within the Microsoft ecosystem.
• Respond to ad hoc data requests, investigate issues, and deliver timely resolutions.
• Proactively support and troubleshoot integrations across SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, and cloud environments to minimize downtime.
• Advocate for data best practices and promote broader adoption of Power BI across the organization.
