Inside Sales Representative

We are seeking an Inside Sales Representative who will play a key role in supporting the sales of Element AVITI instruments, consumables and services within our Distributor Regions. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their sales career who is eager to build a foundation in sales, and to work closely with cross-functional commercial teams to prospect and qualify sales leads from a wide variety of sources. Prior exposure to life sciences, laboratory environments, or a CRM is a plus but not required – we are looking for a motivated self-starter who wants to grow into a sales career. This role will report to the Sr Manager, Inside Sales and is on-site role based in San Diego, CA.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Support achievement of sales targets for instrument sales, sequencing consumables, and related services, both at time of new capital purchase(s) and through the lifetime of the instrument
• Manage customer interactions through phone, e-mail, and web/remote conferencing to promote and further develop Element business
• Work with commercial teams to prospect and qualify sales leads from a wide variety of sources, and route qualified opportunities in Salesforce to the appropriate sales owner
• Achieve and/or exceed all sales and leads targets assigned by commercial leadership
• Effectively manage all inbound/outbound communication with customers
  • This includes but is not limited to: lead qualification from events, marketing campaigns and prospecting customer lists; coordinating with internal resources (field sales, field application scientists, product management) to help address routine customer questions; and learning to identify potential upsell/cross-sell opportunities under the guidance of senior team members
• Establish and maintain a strong, positive, and productive relationship with customers and individuals within the organization
• Maintain the Salesforce CRM database for accurate lead qualification, funnel management and forecasting in a timely and complete manner, while maximizing productivity during key selling time
• Make daily outbound customer contact to support sales presentations addressing customer’s research needs and help increase opportunities and sales
• Support and advocate on behalf of distributor partners and their end users, partnering with Channel Managers and commercial leadership to help resolve customer issues and connect the right internal resources with external partners and clients

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree is required, in Biology/Molecular Biology/Genetics or a related field of study – Advanced Degrees are a plus
• 0-2 years of professional experience; internship, customer-facing, or lab experience is a plus
• Coachable and eager to learn, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communicator, comfortable engaging with customers and internal teams
• Willingness to learn strategic/value-based selling methodology (e.g., Professional Selling Skills) with team support
• Willingness to develop experience in prospecting, lead qualification, funnel management, and ongoing account management
• Comfortable presenting to customers/peers/management, with growing independence over time

Physical Requirements:

• Occasionally moves boxes weighing up to 20 pounds

• Minimal domestic travel (~5% or less), primarily for company/global sales meetings

Job Type:

• Full-time/Exempt

Base Compensation Pay Range:

• $75,000 - $82,000

In addition to base compensation noted above, you will be eligible for stock options, sales commission, no cost health insurance plans, 401k with company match, and flexible paid time off.

Please note: Base compensation will depend on multiple factors, including geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
