Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Overview This position is for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Baxter, responsible for the design, development, implementation, documentation, and ongoing support of advanced medical monitoring products worldwide. Responsibilities Design and develop high‑performance embedded software applications using the Qt framework, ensuring seamless integration with hardware components. Collaborate closely with hardware engineers, product managers, and other team members to define system requirements and integrate software with hardware. Contribute to code quality through reviews, adherence to coding standards, and the development of testing strategies to validate functionality and performance. Support team development by mentoring junior engineers, sharing knowledge, and fostering a collaborative environment. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in embedded systems, bringing innovative ideas to the team. Create and maintain clear documentation for software designs, code, and testing procedures to support knowledge sharing and project continuity. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of embedded software development experience. Experience with a UI framework such as Qt, JavaScript, or React. Proficiency in C++ and a solid understanding of object‑oriented programming principles. Exposure to embedded Linux environments. Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication and collaboration abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience with additional programming languages such as Python. Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment tools (e.g., Jenkins). Knowledge of UI/UX design principles for embedded systems. Experience with automated testing frameworks such as the Squish library for Qt. Prior experience in regulated industries, particularly medical devices. Compensation Estimated base salary $104,000 to $143,000 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses. Compensation is based on location, skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
