PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN

Primary Care Physician (PCP)The Primary Care Physician (PCP) is responsible for providing clinical expertise regarding the primary care medical needs of Care Resource patients.Administrative and Clinical Duties:Provide direct patient care (medical care or research)Properly document all patient interactions in the patient's electronic health record (EHR)Electronically enter charges related to patient care in EHRIdentifies and refers patients for current clinical trials (research)Responds and provides input regarding medical management of patient issues presented by clinical research staff regularlyElectronically reviews and signs off on laboratory results and other patient related information in a timely mannerElectronically reviews and authorizes prescription refills (when appropriate) in a timely mannerElectronically reviews and authorizes Specialist follow up referrals (when appropriate) in a timely mannerElectronically documents adherence to the health maintenance/screening guidelines found in Care Resource's Manual of Clinical Care Guidelines, with particular attention to those required for Universal Data Systems (UDS) and meaningful use reportingMaintains productivity standard set by management by ensuring appointments slots are filled and accessible for emergency walk-in appointmentsProvides medical cross-coverage - as required (i.e. internal medicine PCPs will only cross-cover with Family Practice for adult/adolescent patients)Complies with agency's policy as it relates to "External Access to Patients Electronic Health Records"Completes required documents/forms on behalf of patientsPromotes agency's ancillary services (i.e. Nutrition, Dental, Psychosocial, Speciality Care) when clinically indicated and appropriateConducts special projects as assigned and related to the operations of the Medical Care and/or Research ProgramsProvides primary care to patients in their homes when necessaryProvides primary care to patients in the mobile van at various locations – when requiredQuality Assurance/Compliance:Completes monthly Medical Quality Assurance assessments (QA records review)Complete all required training (i.e. UltiPro, Next Gen, etc.)Participate in regular case staffing to discuss procedures and quality assurance with the medical teamCulture of Service: 3 C's:CompassionCompetencyCommitmentSafety:Ensures proper handwashing according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelinesUnderstands and appropriately acts upon the assigned role in Emergency Code SystemUnderstands and performs assigned roles in the organization's Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP)Contact Responsibility:The responsibility for internal and external contacts is frequent and important.Physical Requirements:Constant sitting, talking in person, talking on the phone, hearing/visual acuity and exposure to blood borne pathogensFrequent walking, standing and exposure to hazardous materialsOccasional bending, stretching/reaching and driving may be requiredWork is performed in office and medical settingsOther:Participates in health center developmental activities as requestedOther duties as assignedSkills:Achievement ExpertCaring ExpertChecking for Accuracy ExpertCollaboration ExpertComforting ExpertCommitment ExpertCompassion ExpertConceptual Thinking ExpertConflict Resolution ExpertConstructive Criticism ExpertContinuous Learning ExpertCooperation ExpertCoordination ExpertCourteous ExpertCritical thinking ExpertCustomer Service ExpertDocumentation ExpertIntegrity ExpertInterpersonal Skills ExpertMicrosoft Office ExpertMultitasking ExpertPatience ExpertPlanning & Organizing ExpertProblem solving ExpertQuick Thinking ExpertSelf-motivation ExpertTelephone ExpertVerbal Communication ExpertWritten Communication ExpertEducation:Graduate Degree or better in Medicinae Doctor.Licenses & Certifications:Medical LicenseDEA CertificateBLSACLSCPRTravel Required:No. Own transportation required
