Clinical Director Alpha Emergence Behavioral Health

About the Role The Clinical Director sits between the Executive Director and Clinical Managers, serving as the clinical backbone of AEBH’s service delivery. This is a leadership role for someone who is as comfortable in a supervision meeting as they are digging into a compliance audit or presenting at a community event. You’ll be the person who translates emerging research into real program changes, resolves conflict before it becomes a crisis, and keeps our clinical quality high without losing sight of the humans at the center of this work. This is a hybrid position. You’ll be in person at our Minneapolis location at least two days per week. What You’ll Own Clinical Oversight & Quality Assurance Facilitate monthly clinical team meetings, translating team needs and identified gaps into concrete next steps Engage with funders during compliance audits across programs (IOP, DOC partnerships, housing services) and translate findings into actionable improvements Maintain documentation quality standards and hold staff accountable to timeliness and accuracy requirements Serve as the clinical decision‑maker on programming direction, with authority to recommend and implement changes consistent with current research and organizational values Supervision & Staff Development Provide direct supervision and leadership to Clinical Managers, supporting their professional development and holding them accountable to clinical and operational standards ensuring consistent clinical quality and staff development across programs Provide licensure supervision to provisionally licensed clinicians in compliance with Minnesota licensing board requirements Oversee coordination of practicum students and interns, including placement, onboarding, and performance oversight Manage Case Managers and Housing staff, providing direction, accountability, and professional development support Design and facilitate staff trainings, staying ahead of developments in the field and translating research into practical tools for your team Step in to cover clinical gaps when staff are on leave or transition out Program Development & Strategic Direction Absorb new research and translate it into policy, procedure, and programming updates that actually get implemented Identify gaps in service delivery before they become problems and bring creative, practical solutions Participate in strategic planning with the Executive Director, bringing clinical expertise to organizational decisions Represent AEBH externally at conferences, community events, and partner meetings Conflict Resolution & External Relations Field and resolve complaints from probation officers, referral partners, and clinicians, calmly and decisively Maintain and grow relationships with DOC, courts, probation agents, and partner agencies Other duties and special projects as assigned What You Bring Credentials & Experience Master’s degree (or higher) in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a closely related field Independent licensure in Minnesota (LICSW, LPCC, LMFT, or equivalent) MN State Board Supervisor certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience (preferred) Experience working with diverse clinical populations, including justice‑involved individuals Familiarity with ATSA guidelines and evidence‑based practices in sexual offending treatment Ability to pass organizational background check requirements Clinical & Operational Skills Strong documentation skills Ability to synthesize complex information and use it to make clear, well‑reasoned decisions Excellent written and verbal communication Comfortable navigating conflict without becoming part of it Attention to detail that extends beyond QA Who You Are Collaborative, not just directive.
